Here we’ll try to explain to all interested Visitors what checks are.
We’ll also touch upon a few questions connected with checks.
What is a check? Check is a page from a special checkbook given by some banks to individuals or corporations having accounts in them.
The cover page of an individual's checkbook looks the following way:
The empty check looks the following way:
The name of the checkbook owner was changed; confidential data was crossed out.
The check’s level of protection is sufficiently lower than the protection level of banknotes. The check is protected by signatures of the payer and payee.
What can the checkbook holder do? He can write a cheque to any individual or corporation and transfer it to them or send by post.
Thus, the majority of Western sponsors send checks to people earning money on the Internet (to clickers, surfers, Web masters selling their time and attention).
Can you be sure that you will be able to cash the check?
Certainly, you cannot. The check written for you is only a possibility to get money.
In order to cash the check, you must give it to a bank.
By the way, not each bank accepts checks. And even if the bank accepts checks, it does not mean that it will accept your check. As a rule, Russian banks accept checks of famous foreign banks.
Having accepted the check from your, the bank posts it to the bank where the checkbook holder has the account.
And now the most interesting fact: if you think that the payer’s bank will immediately transfer funds to your bank, you are mistaken.
Of course, if your check was signed by a world’s leading company or a famous millionaire (Miscrosoft or Bill Gates for example), then the bank is unlikely to check the financial solvency of the payer.
But in most cases, the check will be sent back to the holder. And ONLY after his confirmation, the money will be deducted from the account and transferred to your bank.
Thus, it will take much time (from two weeks up to several months in average) to cash your check in Russia. Moreover, the checkbook holder can reject the check.
And the last: hurry up to cash the check, because it can expire.
Good luck!
